DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Data Train UBRA (U Bremen Research Alliance)\n\nBack
ground\nResearch data is constantly increasing in size and complexity. Bes
ides new discovery opportunities\, this also brings new challenges in mana
ging the data. Some of the key aspects are the possibility to integrate da
ta across scientific domains and to describe and publish the data in a way
that makes it reusable for future generations of scientists. Interest in
this is also shared by the funding agencies and the general public. Like a
ny successful venture\, good data management starts with a plan\, a Data M
anagement Plan\, which outlines in detail what data will be produced\, how
it will be handled\, preserved and shared.\nLearning contents\nThe partic
ipants will get:\n\n\nA general introduction to Research Data Management (
 RDM)\, covering trans-disciplinary concepts\n\n\nA subject-specific focus
on RDM for biodiversity and ecological research\n\n\nA detailed introducti
on to the concept of Data Management Plans (DMPs)\n\n\nAn introduction to
the GFBio service for DMP support\n\nHands-on experience in creating a DMP
according to the DFG Guidelines on the handling of Research Data in Biod
iversity Research\n\nLearning objectives\nAfter the course the participant
s will have gained:\n\n\nA detailed overview of the most important aspects
of RDM\n\n\nThe ability to create their own DMP\n\n\nThe concepts and ski
lls taught in the course are transferable to other disciplines.\nPrior kno
 wledge\nnone\nTechnical requirements \n\nOwn laptop\n\nConnection to Wifi
via eduroam or equivalent access (see: https://www.uni-bremen.de/en/zfn/w
ifi/overview-wifi)\n\n\nThe Lecturers\n\n\n\n\nProf. Dr. Frank Oliver Glö
ckner\nFrank Oliver Glöckner is Professor of Earth System Data Science at
the Department of Geosciences at the University of Bremen. He is head of
Data at the Computing and Data Center of the Alfred Wegener Institute Brem
erhaven. He is head of the Data Publisher for Earth and Environmental Scie
nce PANGAEA at MARUM and speaker of the NFDI4Biodiversity consortium.\n\nD
 r. Ivaylo Kostadinov\nIvaylo Kostadinov is Technical Manager in the consor
tia NFDI4Biodiveristy and works in the task area Research Data Commons.\n\
 n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJimena Linares\nJimena Linares is a Data Steward at t
he German Federation for Biological Data (GFBio e.V.)\, which is a partner
of the NFDI4Bioversity consortium. She works in data curation in the subm
ission service and provides support in research data management services.\
n\nTanja Weibulat\nTanja Weibulat works at the IT Center of the State Natu
ral Science Collections of Bavaria (SNSB)\, a partner of the NFDI4Bioversi
ty consortium..\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFind out more about the Data Train lectures
