 ground\nIf you only know one programming language\, you are in the situati
 on where your only tool is a hammer\, so the whole world looks like a nail
 \; in other words\, you are limiting yourself and your potential. Learning
  a new programming language is like learning any other language: it expand
 s your horizon\, keeps your mind flexible\, and most of all\, it is fun.\n
 Learning contents\nJust because everybody uses Python and R does not mean 
 they are always the best choice\; sometimes they are not. In this course y
 ou will learn a new programming language\, which will extend your horizon\
 , further your understanding of programming\, and expose you to new and ex
 citing concepts in computer science. We will start the course by presentin
 g the language\, work our way through examples from simple to advanced\, a
 nd finish the day by writing a small project in the new language.  The ma
 in question is: which language? This will be decided by the participants i
 n a poll in advance. On offer will be Scala\, Rust\, Haskell\, and two mor
 e.\nLearning objectives\n\nBasic programming knowledge in the selected new
  language\nUnderstanding how to acquire programming skills in any new lang
 uage in a structured way\n\nPrior knowledge\nBasic programming experience
