DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Data Train UBRA (U Bremen Research Alliance)\n\nBack
ground\nData holds the answers to all manner of questions and analysis met
hods can extract those answers - linking the two is “data preparation”
. Anyone interested in working with data will likely need to know at least
some of the principles outlined.\nLearning contents\nAn introduction to t
he preparation of data for analysis\, beginning with the initial productio
n or acquisition through to an analysis ready dataset. The specific case o
f image data will then be discussed in more detail using examples from sat
 ellite-based Earth Observation.\nLearning objectives\n\nAn understanding o
f how to approach a new dataset and the typical steps that will be necessa
ry in a variety of contexts.\nAn insight into the preparation of image dat
a and practical experience performing such tasks using Python.\n\nPrior kn
owledge\n\nFamiliarity with the Python programming language\nSome specific
extension packages will be used but prior knowledge of these will not be
 assumed\n\nTechnical requirements\n\nOwn laptop\n\nConnection to Wifi via
eduroam or equivalent access (see: https://www.uni-bremen.de/en/zfn/wifi/o
 verview-wifi)\n\nAccess to Python\n\nPlease make sure\, you have a functio
nal Python environment running before the workshop\nParticipants with acce
ss to the Uni Bremen ZfN Services can use Python via JupyterHub (https://j
upyter.uni-bremen.de/).\n\n\nIf you do not have any programming environmen
 t (e.g. Python\, R\, Rstudio\, etc.) installed on your computer\, you can
use web-based options: For example\, participants with access to the Uni B
remen ZfN Services can use the Uni Bremen JupyterHub. Alternatively\, part
icipants can use the NFDI JupyterHub.\n\nThe Lecturer(s)\n\n\n\n\nDr. Karl
Kortum\nKarl Kortum is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the German Aerospace
Center (DLR).\n\nDr. Björn Tings\nBjörn Tings is a Research Associate i
n the team of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) oceanography at the Remote Se
nsing Technology Institute of German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Bremen.\n\n
