DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Data Train UBRA (U Bremen Research Alliance)\n\nBack
ground\nIn any research project\, data collection forms the foundation for
deriving results and knowledge. This critical phase often lacks the detai
led planning and documentation it deserves. By implementing a digital work
flow for your research data collection process\, you can effectively organ
ize your work\, carefully consider the information you need to collect\, a
nd mitigate the risk of (meta)data loss.\nLearning contents\nIn this pract
ical workshop\, you will learn from scratch\, how to plan and structure yo
ur data collection before going out to the field\, how to collect data usi
ng mobile devices (even offline)\, and how to make immediate use of your d
ata back at the desk. We will use the KoboToolbox which offers an easily u
nderstandable and flexible structure for various types of data\, making th
e tool interesting for scientists from both natural and social sciences fi
elds.\nLearning objectives\nBasic understanding of the research data lifec
ycle\, basic understanding of metadata collected with data\, basic underst
anding of common data types\, proficiency in creating own research surveys
\, ability to collect data with KoboToolbox online and offline\, basic und
erstanding of XLSforms\, application of the workflow to own research examp
 les.\nPrior knowledge\nNo specific requirements\, a general interest in an
d openness to digitization of research processes and learning new tools\nT
echnical requirements\n\nOwn laptop or Androi Smartphone or Android Tablet
\n\nConnection to Wifi via eduroam or equivalent access (see: https://www.
 uni-bremen.de/en/zfn/wifi/overview-wifi)\n\nInstalled KoboCollect App\n\n
  \nThe Lecturer(s)\n\n\n\n\nAlexandra Nozik\nAlexandra Nozik is Lecturer
at the U Bremen Research Alliance's DataTrain Data Steward Track Program w
